1. Information We Collect
Uferlook collects personal data to operate local discovery and merchant services. This information includes:
- Account Information: Name, email address, password hash, and business profile details provided during registration.
- Contact Details: Mobile number, phone number, street address, city, state, pincode, and country — provided when creating or claiming a business listing.
- Device & Network Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and device identifiers collected automatically when you use our platform.
- Device Location: Device IP geolocation or precise GPS coordinates (only when you explicitly grant location permission) to display nearest listings.
- Usage Details: Saved bookmarks, user reviews, ratings, and listing interaction events (calls clicked, directions requested, photos viewed).
- Uploaded Content: Photos, business images, and profile media you submit to the platform.
We do not collect or store credit card or payment information directly. Any payment processing is handled entirely by our trusted third-party payment processors, subject to their own privacy policies.
2. How We Use Information
We use collected information to operate and improve our local directory platform:
- To verify registrations, authenticate accounts, and send account-related notifications.
- To show listing distances, calculate driving/walking routes, and sort neighborhood results.
- To enable merchant dashboards, analytics summaries, and review moderation flows.
- To personalise your experience, remember preferences, and surface relevant local recommendations.
- To prevent fraud, filter spam listings, and verify business ownership claims.
- To administer promotions, respond to inquiries, and deliver customer support.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Location Data & Geocoding
To provide high-fidelity local searches, Uferlook uses client-side geocoding APIs. We access device coordinates when you search "Near me" or provide address parameters:
- Coordinates are stored locally in browser memory (
localStorage and temporary session cookies) to prevent redundant server queries. - We do not record permanent historical movement logs or track user devices in the background.
- You can revoke location access at any time via your browser or device settings. Revoking permission disables distance-based search but does not affect general platform use.
4. Cookies & Analytics
Uferlook uses cookies — small files transferred to your device — to recognise returning users, maintain login sessions, and track site interactions. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though some platform features may not function correctly without them.
We use the following analytics and tracking tools:
- Google Analytics: Tracks page views, session duration, traffic sources, and user flow to help us improve site performance and content.
- Google Search Console (Webmaster): Monitors search visibility and crawl health of the platform.
- Browser Sessions & Cookies: Used for authentication persistence, user preference storage, and session continuity.
Data collected via these tools is aggregated and anonymised where possible. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5. Information Sharing
Uferlook does not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third-party advertising companies. We share information only in the following contexts:
- Public Postings: Your name, avatar, and reviews are visible on public listing pages.
- Service Providers: Encrypted data is shared with search, mapping, hosting, and analytics providers strictly to render platform services. Some of these providers may be located outside India.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified of any change in ownership affecting your data.
- Legal Mandates: We will disclose information when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Uferlook, our users, or the public.
6. Data Safety & Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to safeguard user data, including:
- Full SSL/TLS encryption for all network traffic between your browser and our servers.
- Hashed and salted password storage — we never store passwords in plain text.
- Database-level access controls and regular security audits.
- Restricted internal access to personally identifiable information on a need-to-know basis.
No data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed 100% secure. We urge you to use strong, unique passwords and to notify us immediately at support@uferlook.com if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide services. Specifically:
- Account data is retained until you request deletion or deactivate your account.
- Usage logs and analytics data are retained for up to 24 months for performance analysis, after which they are anonymised or deleted.
- Legal and compliance records may be retained longer as required by applicable law.
8. Your Rights & Choices
You retain control over your account details and personal data footprint:
- You can update your profile information at any time from your account settings.
- You can deactivate your business listing or personal profile from the settings dashboard.
- You can toggle location access off directly in your web browser or device preferences.
- You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- To request complete account deletion, data extraction, or to raise a data-related concern, contact us at support@uferlook.com.
9. Children's Privacy
Uferlook is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will take steps to delete such information promptly. If you believe a child has submitted data to us, please contact us at support@uferlook.com.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the platform after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
